Gemara Berura is a structured methodology supported by computer-based help tools and support mechanisms for learning and teaching Gemara. The computer program works with the original Gemara text, and can be used to study any sugiya contained in the Shas. Gemara Berura also provides access to a growing data- bank of specific sugiot and lesson-plans prepared by the program's development team. The program can be used by individual learners, chevrutot, study groups, and students in classrooms.

Using Gemara Berura helps learners acquire the skills necessary for understanding the text and its structure. The central aim of Gemara Berura is to help learners analyze the unique structure of the Gemara text. A clear understanding of the structure of the text forms a solid basis which enables students to progress towards the deeper meaning and significance of the sugiya.

Gemara Berura is intended for use by anyone who wants to study the original Gemara text. The program can be used by both independent adult learners and by students in the classroom. Gemara Berura has been used successfully by students of all ages, from sixth grade up. The program allows learners to progress at their own pace, and can accommodate a large range of differing ability levels and learning styles.
