Gemara Berura's support-mechanisms are designed to assist the learner
while he progresses through each of the Steps In The Learning Process.
At each step, the support-mechanisms help the learner process different
aspects of the Gemara text. These help tools include:
1. Keyword
database
2. Sages of
the Talmud database
3. Aramaic-Hebrew
Dictionary
1. Keyword database
Keywords in the text often serve as clues which signal where separate
parts of the sugiya begin and end. For example, the term "Itamar"usually
appears at the beginning of a segment. Keywords often supply clues
about what kind of content the learner can expect to find in the
segment. For instance, "Itamar" indicates that the segment
is an Amoraic saying.
When the learner clicks on the appropriate icon the program automatically
underlines all the keywords which appear in the sugiya. By clicking
on any keyword, the learner can access a database developed especially
for the program, which contains approximately 500 keywords which
appear throughout Shas. Each keyword has a translation and detailed
explanation of the word or expression. The keyword database also
provides suggestions regarding how to classify the segment.

2. Sages of the Talmud database
A click on the appropriate icon colors the names of the Sages mentioned
in the sugiya. Right clicking on a specific name will provide the
learner a short biography on where the Sage lived and when, his
school and who his teachers and pupils were.

3 . Aramaic-Hebrew Dictionary (with vowels)

With this feature, solutions to language problems are only a click
away. Gemara Berura contains a computerized version of the well-known
Dictionary compiled by A. Z. Melamed. Learners can access this database
during any stage of the learning process.
